got grubs?
Everything You Need to know

European chafer
If you live in the Pacific Northwest and you have a grub problem, its most likely the European Chafer Beatle. The life cycle of the European chafer (Rhizotrogus majalis) consists of four main stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Adult beetles emerge in late spring to early summer, typically from May to July, and lay around 20 to 30 eggs in the soil. These eggs hatch after about two weeks, producing larvae that feed on the roots of grass and other plants for several weeks to months. This larval stage is the most damaging, as they can cause significant lawn and turf damage. After feeding, the larvae pupate in the soil, transforming into adults within several weeks. The adults then emerge in late spring, completing the cycle. This life cycle typically spans one year, with some larvae overwintering in the soil before pupating the following spring.
why is my lawn this bad?
The truth is, your lawn probably wasn't as good as you thought is was to begin with. Like with most problems in nature, damage occurs and thrives when things are not healthy. What do you feed it? How often do you feed it? Chances are you are not feeding it often enough and using low quality fertilizer. The reason for the damage is not from the grubs themselves but the birds, raccoons and other animals that feed on them. Because your grass is unhealthy & weak, it's an easy target for hungry animals. Many methods touted for deterring animals from feeding on grubs such as fake owls, noise makers, netting, and laundry soap lack effectiveness, as these creatures often adapt to such deterrents. They do not work and are a waste of your time and money.

natural remedies
Common natural remedies to prevent grub damage in grass include applying beneficial nematodes, which are microscopic worms that attack grubs, or using diatomaceous earth, a natural powder that dehydrates and kills pests. Incorporating organic materials, like compost or a healthy layer of mulch, can also promote beneficial microorganisms that compete with or prey on grubs. All of these methods are a slow process that unfortunately, are not 100% effective at eliminating grubs but are a great addition to a lawn care program.
